Lamb Burgers with Sweet Potato Fries and Caramelised Onions

Decided to have Saturday night dinner while watching some Game of Thrones last night and made Lamb Burgers with Sweet Potato Fries and Caramelised Onions. Perhaps not the healthiest of dinners but a wee treat now and again does no harm.ceotfk-gluten-free-lamb-burgers-and-sweet-potato-chips

Lamb Burgers
  • 400g/1lb Minced Lamb
  • 1 Clove Garlic
  • 1 handful Fresh Parsley Chopped
  • 1 handful Fresh Mint Chopped
  • Salt and Pepper to taste
Sweet Potato Fries
  • 2 large Sweet Potatoes peeled
  • 2 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 1 tbsp Ground Paprika
  • Sprinkling of Sea Salt
Caramelized Onions
  • 1 Large Onion peeled and finely sliced
  • 1 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 2 Tbsp Water


Lamb Burgers
  1. Finely chop the garlic
  2. Combine the herbs, garlic, salt and pepper with the minced lamb
  3. Divide into 6 and form into burgers about 2.5 cm/1 in thick
  4. Chill for 1/2 hr in fridge to firm up
  5. Heat Oven to 200c/180c fan/400F/ Gas Mark 6
  6. Put the burgers in a six hole patty pan or on a baking tin
  7. Cook for 30 minutes turning after 15 minutes and pouring off any fat
  8. Finish by browning in the frying pan that you cooked the onions in for a couple of minutes a side.
Sweet Potato Fries
  1. Slice the Potatoes into 1.5cm/1/2 in fries
  2. Coat in the olive oil and spread out on a baking sheet in a single layer
  3. Sprinkle with paprika and salt
  4. Cook in the oven  at 200c/180c fan/400F/ Gas Mark 6for 30 minutes turning a couple of times until soft and slightly crisp
  5. Serve with lamb burgers
Caramelized Onions
  1. Heat the oil in a heavy based frying pan
  2. Add the sliced onion and cook for 10 minutes until soft and beginning to brown
  3. Add the water and continue cooking until deep brown and caramelized around 5-10 minutes
  4. Serve with the Burgers and Fries
